• to attend his mothers funeral?

The story here in Australia is: A convicted gangland killer (his victims would probably amount to, I don't know, a dozen or more people plus the fact that he was a drug dealer as well) has been denied day release to attend the funeral of his mother who (allegedly) committed suicide last week. The reasons given to the public are that he would be at risk of being a target himself by someone wanting to get revenge or that there would be an attempted escape.

What is your opinion of this - do you think he should be allowed out or not? (His father will (apparently0 be allowed day release - I thnk he ios in for murder also.

  • he should have been executed.

  • Sure, as long as he is escorted by police and brought in in handcuffs and shackles. to protect others and himself.

  • He lost his rights when he decided to kill.

  • only if he promises to be really really really good

  • No, and he won't be it has been decided.

  • Hmmm. I guess it would depend on the severity of the crimes and if they KNOW that someone would be out to get him. Maybe they did it for his own protection. Maybe they did it because they're jerks.
    Hard to say.

  • Look, as long as he cant escape or harm anyone... he should.

He will be locked up for his whole life, he should be let out for one day to go to his mothers funeral.

He has taken lives, thats serious but that does not necessarily mean that me should lock them all up and throw away the key.
