Had this program a couple of weeks now and I can't say I am impressed.
Thanks for any help.
no spaces
i'm sure that it does, an icon or something, and i'm sure it'd be in the insert menu. i.e. Insert > Line Break.
Alex, why use a horizontal rule? That makes no sense to me, it doesn't affect the line spacing of your text. I'm not sure why you'd bring that up.
All a horizontal rule does, brinton, is just that: adds a horizontal rule, a line on your page.
if you insert a line break, it will correct your problem, brinton.
it would help keep things organized. Its just my opionion....
ever tried looking in the help contents of frontpage? it most certainly is in there.
it is like asking how to type the letter a in a word document in a word forum and no one knows the answer.
if it's that simple, how come you can't do it yourself?
you can insert a line break, i'm not sure what the command is in frontpage since i use dreamweaver, but you can insert the html < /br > (remove spaces) and it will have the same effect.
as for the lines of text going on forever, try using tables to organize your text/content. this will eliminate that problem.
Brinton, liam's help is pretty much to the point. To skip one line, simply press Shift + Enter. To cause a line break, press Enter and you will skip a line and start from a new line. Tables will help you to solve your problem, and I am not sure why your copy of FrontPage is continuing text beyond the actual page's width.
Also, all of us here volunteer our times to help. A little kindness goes a long way - especially when a good solution was already provided by liam...searching the FrontPage help =)
Cheers!

You then ask if I am so clever, why haven't I worked it out for myself, well, I have done just about everything I can think of to do so but have found no answers. That is why I came to the forum. I suppose my next step would be to contact microsoft for an answer (I must emphasize that I have only had a computer for six months and frontpage for two week - only started looking through it about 4 days ago so I cannot be expected to be an expert in this ammount of time)
The one thing that really annoys me about computer forums in general is the smug attitude of some of the more experienced users of this or that software (not you but particullarly on the macromedia site) They assume that they are more intelligent just because they have spent longer on an application. Does a knowledge of certain software make a person superior to someone who knows nothing of that software? As far as I can see, frontpage is a pile of **** and I will get rid of it as soon as i post this reply

I remember the days when I ditched FrontPage 98 because I couldn't figure out the difference between their Editor and Explorer...{shudders}. Of course, I came back to it a few months later and found it to be almost better than sliced bread!
Cheers!

and you can use this to organize information
I will not give up. I feel a little lost with it all- Frontpage, Dreamweaver, Actionscript in flash mx (but I love Flash) I also love Free hand!!!!
I suppose You know how it is with all the learning curves of ALL of theses applications. I suppose that one day I will look back and laugh at my worries but untill that day, Thank you all for the time you take to reply to my naive questions
Thanks again
